Colibri Meaning

Colibrí (koh-lee-BREE) means “hummingbird.” The word comes from the Taíno peoples of the Caribbean and later entered Spanish and French, with variations such as “kolibri” used in other countries.

The hummingbird symbolizes joy, meaning, health, and presence. With wings that flutter rapidly—almost as if they exist on another plane—they carry a spiritual allure. Some believe that seeing a hummingbird is a sign from the other side, a message from a loved one who has passed. These wonderful, awe-inspiring creatures teach us to be mindful and live in the moment.

The hummingbird was chosen as both the name and logo of Colibri for these reasons, but also because it was the favorite bird of Christina’s late grandmother. As a social worker, she embodied the nurturing and vibrant spirit of the hummingbird in all she did.

Our philosophy and Treatment Approach

Here at Colibri Counseling, we believe that you are the primary agent of your own wellness. This is supported through a person-centered and strength-based approach. We will work together to create a treatment plan based on your specific needs and goals. There is no "one-size-fits-all" solution. We use a variety of treatment modalities based on what is best for you or your child’s needs.
